Eligibility

The Montessori School of Iowa City does not discriminate in its enrollment on the basis of race, color, creed, gender, national origin, or family composition. The school will make any reasonable accommodations for children with special needs, per the Americans with Disabilities Act.

To attend the school, a child must be at least three years of age and fully toilet-trained. Elementary children must be six years of age by September 15, and typically will have attended a Montessori preschool.

Registration

Registration is the first step in the admissions process, and includes submitting a completed application and a nonrefundable registration fee, at which time we place the child's name on the waiting list for enrollment. A child can be registered at any time before attending the school. The earlier a child is registered, the more likely he/she will secure a position.

Enrollment

Enrollment is the second step in the admissions process. Parents of registered children who will attend the school will be sent enrollment forms in early spring. Enrollment of new students generally occurs in June for the summer session, in August for the school year, or at any other time an opening should exist. New students are typically not admitted for the summer program only.

Full- and part-time openings are determined by the student/teacher ratios set by DHS.
